Recipe has changed for the worse

These bars used to be great--the protein-to-sugar ratio used to be more protein (10g) than sugar (8g) (the nutrition information posted by Amazon is no longer accurate). But now, the bars have *15* grams of sugar to 10 grams of protein. Yuck--much too sweet! If I want sugar I'll get a Hershey bar. What I wanted was a quick protein snack that didn't rot my teeth.

Changed Recipe

These bars used to be fabulous. I would buy boxes at a time from GNC and have a bar for breakfast and in the afternoon to tide me over. If I was busy, I could live on just the bars. Organic made me feel like I wasn't doing any damage to myself by eating them. Always had one in my purse. I actually lost 10 pounds really quickly, that I hadn't seen gone in years, the last 10 pounds that made a HUGE difference, just by adding these bars for breakfast, no working out, nothing. I wasn't even trying to lose weight. Imagine how thrilled I was to finally find a solution that worked so easily. Then what happens... they double the sugar to make the bars 'less crumbly'. I gave them a try, but yick. Tasted funny and I can't eat two or more per day without going diabetic. So those 10 pounds didn't stay gone eating real food. I begged them to bring back the old recipe. They said it wasn't going to happen. Why on earth do they need to make these nutritional bars so sweet? I'm not looking for something to replace my candy bar. I'm looking for something to replace a breakfast of real food I'd have to take time to prepare and probably can't easily eat in the car.If you're looking for yummy, the current recipe can probably stand up to the rest of the sickeningly sweet 'nutritional' bars. But the last recipe was much tastier.I'm hoping someone from the company actually reads these reviews and decides to do something about it. Remember how the new Coke came out and everybody hated it, so they brought back Coke Classic? Not that I ever drank cola, but I'm hoping the same phenomenon will happen here.

Texture is atypical, but chocolate flavor is excellent!

My only complaint echoes something noted by an earlier commenter: the texture is a bit odd... not crispy/flakey/crunchy like we expect from something so sweet and tasty. I think this is the way it is in order to add fiber (a very, very good thing!); I have yet to see a high-protein / medium-to-high-fiber have a delectable crunchy texture.But I love everything else about this bar, in particular:- It's filling! Surprisingly so for its relatively light 180 calories. I feel just as satisfied eating this as I do, say, a Snickers bar, which has 55% more calories and a hell of a lot of more "evil" things in it. It's the perfect quick breakfast (especially paired with a piece of fruit or bit of oatmeal) or a fab dessert at the end of a lunch or dinner. Or a snack 30 minutes before a workout at the gym. Or a treat after workout. This is truly an "anytime" bar! :)- The chocolate tastes like, well, real chocolate! I know that may sound silly, but this is literally the first energy / health bar I've had that doesn't taste merely "chocolate-like" or, worse yet, a cross between "chocolate aroma and medicinal taste."In short... yum! Without the guilt!
